Quench Your Thirst!

Water. We can’t live without it. It is known that people have survived without food for weeks and even months, but to go without water for even just one day puts your body in deteriorating conditions.

Our body is mostly made up of water; about 60% of the human body weight is composed of water.

Every day we lose water through normal perspiration, saliva, and bowel movements. It is important to replenish our bodies with water, but exactly how much do we need to drink on a daily basis?

Most of us have heard the rule of “Eight.” Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. However; this is not a set rule and depending on each person and how active a person is depends on how much water they should consume daily.

According to the Institute of Medicine, men are recommended to drink roughly 13 cups or 3 liters of fluid per day. Women are recommended to drink roughly 9 cups or 2.2 liters of fluid per day. But, let’s not forget that we get about 2 ½ cups of fluid from foods. (Watermelon is almost made up of 100% water)

Now that you have an idea of how much water you should drink a day, let’s look at some benefits water can provide us!

Benefits of H2O:

Without the proper amount of water our body can experience DEHYDRATION! Dehydration can lead to feeling weak, loss of memory, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive thirst, a weakened pulse, and severe dehydration can even lead to death.

So hydrate your body with the proper amount of H2O and live a long and healthy life!
